RIVERSIDE, CA - Seattle U baseball dropped their series opener with California Baptist, 6-13, Thursday night in California.
After trailing by five through three innings of play, the Redhawks fought back with six runs over the next three to cut the deficit to just three. The home side Lancers would put up five in the 7th to pull away late and deny the Redhawks their first win of the season.
Five different SU players had an RBI on the night, with Jared Stevenson hitting his first home run of the season, a solo shot, in the top of the 5th. Payton Knowles, Tyler Horner, Josh Cunnigan, and Ryder Manale joined him in driving in runs.
The loss drops the Redhawks to 0-4 to start the year. They will continue their hunt for the first win of the season in game two with the Lancers tomorrow, Feb. 20. First pitch is again scheduled for 6:00pm PT and Travis Farrell will be making his first start of the year.
