SEATTLE - Seattle University women’s basketball (4-11, 0-3 WCC) wraps up its three home-game stand against San Diego under waves of neon light, hosting the Toreros (6-11, 0-4 WCC) for Neon Night at the Redhawk Center on Thursday night at 6 PM.
Graduate Ella Brubaker leads the Redhawks in scoring, ranking amongst the top-10 in the West Coast Conference this season. Brubaker is averaging 15.1 points per game, shooting 43.6 percent from the field while netting 1.3 triples per contest.
Redshirt senior Tamia Stricklin is SU’s second double digit scorer, averaging 10.9 points per game shooting 43.4 percent from the field. She leads the team in three point percent on more than one attempt, shooting 34.1 percent from behind the arc.
Junior Lucija Milkovic paces the team shooting 52.9 percent from the field. The mark ranks third in the WCC. Milkovic is scoring 7.8 points in 18.1 minutes of action per game. SU’s center is shooting 41.7 percent from three on the season, averaging about one attempt from three point land per game.
Orchestrating the Redhawk offense is SU’s pair of freshmen guards. Jana Vesic leads the team with 2.9 assists per game while Dylan Mogel also ranks alongside Vesic in the WCC’s top-20 handing out 2.4 assists per game.
Stricklin leads the Redhawks’ rebounding effort, hauling in 6.5 rebounds per game. Milkovic ranks inside the WCC’s top-25, bringing in 5.0 rebounds a contest.
The Redhawks are shooting 40.4 percent on the season, combining for 365 made field goals through 15 games. They rank first in the league in free throw percentage, posting a 76.8 percent shooting clip from the stripe. Together SU is averaging 35.4 rebounds per game while picking up 6.7 steals and 3.2 blocks per game to force a combined 14.4 turnovers per game on the defensive end. The Redhawks rank sixth in the league in blocks per game.
Seattle U and San Diego meet for the seventh time in program history dating back to 2010. The Toreros lead the series 5-1 and the pair go head-to-head for the first time since 2017. The Redhawks hold the most recent victory between the clubs, grabbing a 13 point victory over the Toreros at home.
San Diego is also in pursuit of its first conference and first true road victory of the season alongside Seattle U. The Toreros wrapped up their final four non-conference games 3-1, defeating Utah State, UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton at home before the new year. Three of USD’s conference losses have been by single digits, including four point decisions with Pacific and San Francisco. The Redhawks will be their third road WCC game this year.

Following Thursday’s game, the Redhawks remain in the PNW, traveling down I-5 to Corvallis for a Saturday clash against Oregon State at 1 PM. Seattle U returns home the second to last weekend of January to host both Santa Clara and Saint Mary’s.
