SEATTLE - Seattle University women’s basketball (5-14, 1-7 WCC) caps a weekend at home hosting Saint Mary’s (12-9, 3-5 WCC) for a Saturday 1 PM game at the Redhawk Center for its Alumni Day. 

A pregame get-together will be set for noon downstairs at Legends Lounge with an in-game recognition slated for all women’s basketball alumni in attendance.

Graduate Ella Brubaker leads the team this season averaging 14.8 points per game shooting 43.5 percent from the floor. Brubaker is one of two Redhawks averaging in double-digits on the year. Redshirt senior Tamia Stricklin aids the SU scoring effort, posting 11.4 PPG on 44 percent shooting. Stricklin paces the team from behind the arc, posting a 40.7 percent clip from three. The mark ranks fourth in the conference.

Stricklin ranks seventh in the WCC in rebounds, picking up 6.2 a contest. Sophomore Sydnie Rodriguez ranks amongst the top-25 in the league alongside Stricklin, grabbing 4.9 rebounds per game.

Freshman Jana Vesic guides the Redhawk offense, ranking 12th in the WCC handing out 2.9 assists per game. 

Junior Lucija Milkovic ranks eighth in the WCC in field goal percentage, shooting 48.3 percent from the floor. Milkovic scores 7.2 PPG averaging 18.1 minutes per game. 

The Redhawks have combined for 446 field goals on the season, ranking eighth in the WCC in three point percentage (29.6). Seattle U paces the conference from the free throw line, posting a 78.6 percent clip from the stripe. The mark ranks 15th in the nation.

SU grabs 35 rebounds a game while collecting 6.6 steals and 3.1 blocks a contest. The Redhawks rank seventh in the WCC in blocks.

Seattle U and Saint Mary’s meet for the sixth time in program history dating back to 2008. The Gaels lead the all-time series 5-0, including a 2-0 record in Seattle. The pair square off for the first time since 2013.

Saint Mary’s moved to 12-9 on the season after capturing its third win in conference play on Thursday night. Late heroics from the Gaels elevated Saint Mary’s over Pepperdine, connecting on the game winning shot as time expired. The Gaels have defeated Pacific and San Diego this season.

The Redhawks are the Gaels’ fourth road contest in WCC play. Saint Mary’s is 2-1 in road league games and 6-3 in road games this season.

Following Saturday’s game, the Redhawks travel to Southern California, meeting both Pepperdine and LMU for the first time this season. They return home on February 5 to host San Francisco.
