SEATTLE – Another battle in the middle of the West Coast Conference standings is on tap Saturday, Jan. 24 as Seattle University men’s basketball makes its first trip to Stockton, Calif., since 1984 to face off against the Pacific Tigers. Tip off from the Alex G. Spanos Center is 4 p.m. on ESPN+.

- Seattle U rebounded from last weekend’s loss to Gonzaga with a 69-59 win over LMU on Wednesday at the Redhawk Center.
- The Redhawks held LMU to just 18 first-half points and led by as many as 28 before a late Lion surge trimmed the final spread.
- Defense was the anchor for the Redhawks as they held a fourth opponent under 60 points. Seattle U is 4-0 in those games.
- Brayden Maldonado led the Redhawks in scoring for the 11th time this season, finishing with 14 points. Jojo Murphy came off the bench to add 13 – his season high against a DI opponent.
- Austin Maurer added 11 points for his seven double-digit output of the year.
- Will Heimbrodt collected a career-high five steals as the Redhawks forced LMU into 20 turnovers – the second most opponent turnovers for Seattle U this season (also 23 by Cal Poly on Nov. 8).
- Seattle U, meanwhile, had just seven turnovers, their second lowest of the season (five versus Saint Mary’s and San Francisco).
- The win kept the Redhawks perfect at home all-time against LMU, moving to 17-0.
- The Redhawks are now 10-3 at home this season, including 7-2 at the Redhawk Center, and 14-7 overall for the year, matching last year’s win total with 10 regular season games to play.
ABOUT THE SERIES VS PACIFIC
- This marks 12th all-time meeting between Seattle U and Pacific, though the first since 1984.
- Seattle U holds a 7-6 edge in the all-time series.
- The series dates back to 1956 and meetings continued periodically through the 50s, 60s and early 70s.
- The last meeting, in 1984, was a 74-54 win for the Tigers in Stockton, Calif.
- This marks the first time the two programs will meet as conference opponents.
RECORD BOOK WATCH
- Will Heimbrodt has 52 blocks through 21 games, leading the WCC and ranking among the nation’s best in the statistical category.
- With 10 games remaining in the regular season, Heimbrodt’s total is already No. 6 in Seattle U’s single-season record book.
- Currently tied for No. 4 are Kobe Williamson (2023-24) and Eugene McClanahan (1982-83) with 53 blocks.
- Seattle U’s all-time record for blocks in a single season is 79, set by Aaron Menzies during the 2017-18 season.
NUMBERS WATCH
- The 69-59 win over LMU on Jan. 21 was No. 94 at Seattle U for Head Coach Chris Victor. He is six wins away from the century mark while leading the Redhawks. Victor is also three wins away from 200 for his career as a head coach, which also includes six seasons at Citrus College in California.
- John Christofilis has poured in 136 threes in two-plus seasons at SU, putting him in striking distance of entering the SU all-time top-list this year. Sitting tied for 10th are Mack Junior (95-99) and Arne Klubberud (95-99), each with 144 career threes.
- Maleek Arington enters Wednesdays match-up with LMU with 893 career points and eyes becoming a third member of the 2025-26 squad to surpass 1,000 career points. He would join Jojo Murphy (1,478 career points) and Brayden Maldonado (1,325 career points).
