SEATTLE - Seattle University women’s basketball (4-9, 0-2 WCC) kicks off 2026 inside the Redhawk Center hosting Gonzaga (10-5, 2-0 WCC) on Friday evening for its first home West Coast Conference contest since joining the league on July 1, 2025.
Graduate Ella Brubaker leads the Redhawks and ranks sixth in the conference in scoring, posting 15 points a game, shooting 44.4 percent from the floor. Her 68 made field goals ranks ninth in the WCC. Brubaker picks up 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals a game on the defensive end.
Redshirt senior Tamia Stricklin is also averaging double-digit scoring, posting 10.8 points a game while shooting 45.9 percent from the field through 12 games. Her 6.9 rebounds per game ranks fifth in the WCC and her 83 total rebounds ranks ninth in the league.
Junior Lucija Milkovic is third in the WCC in field goal percentage, leading the team with a 54.9 percent shooting clip from the floor. Through 17.1 minutes of action, she’s scoring 7.6 points per game.
Freshman Jana Vesic sits eighth in the league in assists, handing out 3.3 on average. Fellow freshman guard Dylan Mogel hovers inside the WCC’s top-15, handing out 2.6 assists per game.
The Redhawks shoot a combined 41.3 percent from the floor this season, netting 320 field goals through 13 games. They rank second in the WCC in free throw shooting, hitting 75.8 percent from the stripe. SU grabs 35.9 rebounds per game while picking up 3.2 blocks and 6.7 steals per game to force 14.5 turnovers a game.
Gonzaga is one of the program’s oldest ties, first facing Seattle U in 1981. The pair have met 14 times prior to Friday’s contest. The Bulldogs hold the 10-4 series edge, including the 2-0 record advantage in SU’s Division I era. The Redhawks opened the series up 4-0 and are 3-4 at home against the Zags. Despite sharing a home in the state of Washington, Gonzaga and Seattle U meet for the first time since 2010.
Gonzaga is currently enjoying a four game winning streak after opening conference play 2-0. The Zags are 4-0 in road contests on the season, most recently defeating Missouri State and UC Riverside as part of their current winning streak. They finished the non-conference 8-5.
Following Friday’s game, the Redhawks remain at home to host Washington State on January 4 at 1 PM before hosting San Diego on January 8 to complete their three game homestand to start the new year.
