SEATTLE – A handful of Redhawks got a head start to their 2026 track season Saturday.
Competing unattached, three of Seattle U’s own – Zoe Tibbo, Matthew Fiso and Osaze Demund — made their mark in a variety of events at Washington’s Indoor Preview, held inside the Dempsey Indoor Facility.
Tibbo kicked off the final season of her decorated Seattle U career with a trio of events. She recorded a 4.94 meter distance in the long jump – an event in which she holds the fifth-best distance in Redhawk history. She also went 10.78 meters in the triple jump; her 11.38 meter jump in last year’s indoor season is the fourth-best in school history. Tibbo rounded out the weekend with an 8.45 second 60 meter dash.
On the men’s side, Matthew Fiso was back in action after competing in the World Track and Field Championships last fall. Fiso’s resume also speaks for itself; he holds the third-best long jump in Seattle U history, set last year with a 6.65 meter jump. In Saturday’s meet, Fiso got back into action with a 6.41 meter jump. He added a 12.98 meter triple jump, and ran the 60 meter dash in 7.18 seconds.
Osaze Demund polished off the weekend for the Redhawk trio by running the 1000 meter race. Already the all-time record holder in Redhawk history in the 800 meter indoor, Demund showed off his long distance prowess again Saturday with a 2:26:23 time in the 1000 meter, which was good for eighth place in a field of 19 qualifiers.
