QUICK HITS
- A three-game West Coast Conference road trip produced the Redhawks’ first consecutive losses of the season as they fell to then No. 7 Gonzaga, RV Saint Mary’s and Oregon State over a seven-day span.
- Seattle U is now 12-6 on the season and 1-4 in WCC play.
- The most recent setback was a 68-55 defeat to the Beavers on Jan. 8.
- The 55 points was a season low for the Redhawks, who have only been held under 60 points twice this season.
- Brayden Maldonado had 13 points and John Christofilis added 11 off the bench, but no other Redhawk reached double figures as the team shot just 30% from the field and 23% from three.
- The Redhawks now return home for a three-game stretch. This marks their first stretch of home games this long since early December.
- The Redhawks are 8-2 at home this season, including a 6-2 mark in games played at the Redhawk Center.
- Under Head Coach Chris Victor, the Redhawks are 59-15 (.797) at home, including a 42-11 mark in the Redhawk Center.
ABOUT THE SERIES VS SAN DIEGO
- This marks just the third all-time meeting between the Redhawks and Toreros.
- San Diego won the two previous meetings, both during the 1979-80 season when both universities were members of the West Coast Athletic Conference (now WCC).
- That season was the Toreros first in the conference and Seattle U’s last.
RECORD BOOK WATCH
- Will Heimbrodt has 46 blocks through 18 games, leading the WCC and ranking among the nation’s best in the statistical category.
- With 13 games remaining in the regular season, Heimbrodt’s total is already No. 6 in Seattle U’s single-season record book.
- Currently tied for No. 4 are Kobe Williamson (2023-24) and Eugene McClanahan (1982-83) with 53 blocks.
- Seattle U’s all-time record for blocks in a single season is 79, set by Aaron Menzies during the 2017-18 season.
NCAA NET RANKING
- The first NET ranking of the season debuted on Dec. 1. Seattle U debuted at 109 which was the fifth highest in the West Coast Conference.
- Coming off of their 70-66 win over Washington, the Redhawks broke into the top-100 for the first time this season, coming in at No. 99.
- The Redhawks’ peak was No. 93 on Dec. 23 and in games played through Jan. 13, they sit at 120, good for fifth best in the WCC behind Gonzaga (5), Saint Mary’s (30), Santa Clara (52) and San Francisco (104).
- Seattle U is one of just two teams in the WCC with a Quad 1 win this season. The Redhawks’ 77-69 victory at Stanford stands as that Quad 1 victory. Gonzaga is the other WCC team with Quad 1 wins, going 3-1 thus far in that category.
