SEATTLE - Fresh off the program’s first West Coast Conference victory, Seattle University women’s basketball (5-11, 1-4 WCC) takes its game out on the road, traveling down I-5 for a clash in Corvallis against Oregon State (12-5, 4-0 WCC) at Gill Coliseum on Saturday at 1 PM.
Graduate Ella Brubaker tallied her third 20+ point game of the season in the 68-62 victory over San Diego on Thursday evening. The effort extended Brubaker’s double-digit scoring streak to 12 straight contests. Brubaker is averaging 15.4 points per game, a feat that ranks fifth in the WCC. She’s shooting 44.2 percent from the floor while averaging 1.4 triples a game.
Redshirt senior Tamia Stricklin posted her season high against the Toreros, scoring 20 points. She has the second longest double-digit scoring streak on the team, tallying six straight games with 10+ points. Stricklin is SU’s second double-digit scorer, averaging 11.5 PPG. She sits right within the WCC’s top-15 in scoring average. Stricklin is shooting 44.2 percent from the field while leading the team from behind the arc, shooting 36.7 percent. Stricklin is also the team’s leading rebounder, averaging 6.5 rebounds a contest. She ranks seventh in the conference in RPG.
Sophomore Sydnie Rodriguez comes off a career high 11 rebounds. She joins Stricklin inside the WCC’s top-20, bringing in 5.1 rebounds per game. Rodriguez is averaging 7.1 PPG on the year.
Junior Lucija Milkovic is one of four players in the WCC averaging above 50 percent field goal shooting this season. In 18.1 minutes of action, Milkovic is connecting for 3.4 makes on 6.5 attempts. She paces the team shooting 52.7 percent from the floor.
Freshman Jana Vesic leads the team in assists, handing out 2.9 per game. She ranks in the conference’s top-20 alongside fellow freshman Dylan Mogel. Mogel is second on the team with her 2.4 assists per game.
The Redhawks are shooting 40.5 percent from the field on the season, combining for 386 makes through 16 games. SU is shooting 30.4 percent from three point land, tallying 96 triples this season. The team leads the conference in free throw percentage, posting a 77.9 free throw shooting percentage. Seattle U grabs 35.1 rebounds per game while collecting 6.4 steals and 3.1 blocks a contest, forcing 14.4 opponent turnovers a game.
Seattle U and Oregon State meet for the eighth time in program history dating back to 1979. The Redhawks trail the all-time series 5-2 and go for their first victory over the Beavers since 1980. Since the series resumed in 2009, SU is 0-2 in its return to Division I against Oregon State. The two meet for the first time since 2022. Of the two program wins against the Beavers, both have been in Corvallis. In seven meetings, the programs have only met once in Seattle.
Oregon State leads the WCC, accounting for four league wins since conference play started. The Beavers are the conference’s lone team that are undefeated in WCC play. They capped the non-conference at 8-5 and are currently enjoying a six game winning streak. Oregon State is 7-2 at home on the season, falling only to Colorado State and Arizona State inside Gill Coliseum.
Following Saturday’s contest, the Redhawks return to action after a week off, travelling back to Oregon for a meeting with Portland at the Chiles Center on Jan. 17.
