SEATTLE - For the 16th time in program history, Seattle University women’s basketball (4-5) eclipsed the 100 point mark, bagging the lopsided 102-37 victory over Evergreen State (0-1) in front of a rambunctious Redhawk Center crowd on Kids Day on Tuesday morning.

Five Redhawks registered double-digit scoring affairs, with junior Lucija Milkovic leading the way with a new career high 18 points. The center netted a career high nine field goals, shooting 64.3 percent from the floor. Milkovic captured her first collegiate double-double en route to SU’s fourth win of the year, hauling in a new career best 11 rebounds, including two offensive boards.

Sophomore Fia Proctor came out with the hot hand, netting a new career high 14 points, hitting four of six shots from the field while hitting perfect (2-of-2) from behind the arc. She matched her career high with four makes from the free throw line, while handing out a career best two assists. On the defensive end she brought in three rebounds, a block and a steal.

Graduate Ella Brubaker scored 14, extending her double-digit scoring streak to five straight games. She finished shooting six-of-eight from the field and brought in four rebounds.

Freshmen Chloe Emanga and Jana Vesic rounded out the group, with Emanga scoring 12 to Vesic’s 10. All 12 for Emanga came from inside the three point line, while Vesic finished 2-of-2 from three point land. Emanga brought in seven rebounds, while Vesic dished out five assists.

Sophomore Lucy Larson paced the team with 13 rebounds, a new career high, including five offensive boards. She handed out a team leading six assists for a new career high and scored a season high tying four points.

The Redhawks shot 57 percent from the field and catalogued a 55 percent shooting clip from behind the arc. Their combined 52 rebounds is now fourth all-time in the DI era, breaking the previous fourth place performance from 2023. SU handed out 25 assists in the victory, tying the DI record for the seventh time and matching SU’s 25 assists against Evergreen State from a season ago.

Seattle U scored 65 points from its bench, with all 11 on the roster putting points into the score column. The Redhawks scored 62 points in the paint and 21 points off of turnovers. They forced 16 turnovers, including 11 steals, and tallied six blocks. SU’s 102 points tied 10th in program history for points scored in a single game, matching Seattle U’s victory over Whitworth in 1988. The Redhawks have scored 100+ in three games since returning to DI in 2008, with the last squad doing so in 2020 in the 106-39 win over Northwest. Seattle U moved to 15-0 against Evergreen State in the all-time series.

The Redhawks came out shooting from the jump, hitting 50 percent from behind the arc, while connecting eight times from the field in the first quarter. Sophomore Sydnie Rodriguez and redshirt senior Tamia Stricklin kicked off the voluminous scoring affair, combining for eight points through the opening two minutes.

Seattle U never trailed in the contest, only tying the Geoducks through the first minute of play after exchanging threes. Evergreen State kept it within a couple possessions through the middle of the first, but a 7-2 scoring effort spearheaded by Proctor and Brubaker pushed the Redhawks up 24-12 at the end of the first.

Stricklin and Brubaker continued to push in the second quarter before Proctor hit her second triple to put the Redhawks ahead by 30 with 2:29 left before half time. Emanga and Larson closed the second quarter with five points, with Larson connecting on a corner three with two seconds left.

Between grads, Brubaker and Bigovic scored 11 right out of the gates in the third quarter to lead 63-19. The Redhawks held the Geoducks to five points in the third quarter, while Vesic and Proctor took over through the closing three minutes to give the Redhawks a 53 point lead entering the final quarter of action.

Milkovic scored six in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter. Senior Aaliyah Ibarra scored four to push SU past 90 points, giving the Redhawks the 95-31 advantage at just under four minutes left. After a make from the free throw line by Larson, the Redhawks took the 98-36 lead before Emanga gave SU the 100 points off a driving lay up with 46 seconds left. Milkovic iced the game, netting her final of 18 points to grant the Redhawks their fourth win of the year behind the 102-37 win.

The Redhawks have 11 days off before returning home to host CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, December 13. They end their nonconference slate right before the holiday break with a road trip to Portland State before traveling for their first West Coast Conference contest of the year on December 28.
