SEATTLE - One final non-conference contest lies in store for Seattle University women’s basketball as the Redhawks (4-6) take the trip down to Portland State (3-7) for a Wednesday evening clash at Viking Pavilion.

Graduate Ella Brubaker leads the Redhawks’ scoring effort through ten games, averaging 14.6 points per game shooting 45 percent from the field. Redshirt senior Tamia Stricklin also averages double-digit scoring for SU, posting 10.0 PPG, hitting 44.7 percent from the floor. The forward ranks sixth in the WCC with 6.9 rebounds per game, while claiming fifth in the league in total rebounds with 69. 

Adding to SU’s scoring effort is freshman Jana Vesic. The guard posts 8.4 points per game while leading the team with 3.7 assists per game. Fellow freshman guard Dylan Mogel also ranks amongst the top-15 in the WCC, handing out 3.0 assists per game. 

Through eight games, junior Lucija Milkovic has made her way into the top-three in the WCC shooting 58.5 percent from the floor. She’s averaging three made field goals through 14 minutes of action. Both Brubaker and Stricklin join her in the top-20, with Brubaker taking 19th (45%) and Stricklin 20th (44.7%).

Seattle U ranks sixth in the conference with a 41.4 shooting clip from the field, combining for 245 made field goals so far this season, a mark that ranks fifth in the WCC. The Redhawks rank third in the league with a 75.5 shooting percentage from the free throw line. 

Seattle U meets Portland State for the 18th time in program history and carries the series edge 9-8 into Wednesday night. The Redhawks are 4-4 in Portland against the Vikings and PSU holds a 4-1 advantage in the last five meetings. SU goes for its first win over the Vikings since 2017 and first road win in the series since 2015.

The Redhawks seek their first road win of the season, with three of their four wins coming inside the Redhawk Center. Portland State is 2-2 on the year at home, collecting wins over Willamette and San Jose State. Six of the Viking’s first ten games were all on the road, with Portland State splitting its last two road contests with Kansas City and CSU Fullerton. 

The Vikings wrap their non-conference slate hosting the WCC’s PNW pair, with the Redhawks coming in on Wednesday and Portland making the cross town trip on Sunday. 

Following Wednesday’s contest, the Redhawks return after the holiday break, traveling for their WCC debut at Pacific on Sunday, December 28. They return home in the new year to host Gonzaga on January 2.
