SEATTLE - Seattle University women’s basketball (1-1, 0-0 WCC) completes a trio of Homecoming events at the Redhawk Center as the Redhawks wrap up the weekend hosting UC Santa Barbara (1-1, 0-0 Big West) on Sunday, November 9 at noon.

Seattle U opened the first week of action with three games in the past six days, splitting its first two contests between Washington and Northwest. Sunday’s contest marks the third game within the greater Seattle area and back-to-back home contests for the Redhawks.

Graduate Ella Brubaker leads the Redhawks through opening week, averaging 12.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. The transfer guard netted 17 points in Wednesday’s win over Northwest, finishing three points shy of her career high at the Division I level. The University Place native paces the team with 43.5 percent shooting from the floor.

Assisting the scoring effort are redshirt senior Tamia Stricklin and freshman Jana Vesic. The pair are each averaging 9.0 points per game through two games, with Stricklin grabbing 6.5 rebounds a game to lead all Redhawks while also averaging 57.1 percent shooting from the field. Vesic is second on the squad in assists per game, handing out 4.5 in two appearances. Fellow freshman guard Dylan Mogel paces the pair with 5.0 assists per game.

Seattle U has seen ample scoring from a multitude of Redhawks over the past week, with all 11 on the roster making their way on to the scoresheet on Wednesday. Sophomore Fia Proctor scored her first collegiate points in the 30 point win over the Eagles, scoring seven off of 60 percent shooting from the field.

Junior Lucija Milkovic had a career outing at the start of the week, grabbing a career best seven rebounds in 13 minutes of action against the Huskies. After scoring a career best on Monday, the transfer center went for a new high six points off the bench against the Eagles on three of five shooting from the floor.

Freshman Chloe Emanga was one of three Redhawks to score in double-digits against Northwest, posting a 12 points on 45.5 percent shooting from the field.

Together, the Redhawks rank third in the WCC in FGM with 52, while sitting fourth for average offensive boards with 15.0. Their 9.0 steals per game also ranks tied-fourth.

Seattle U and UC Santa Barbara met a season ago over the Thanksgiving weekend in Arizona, with the Gauchos securing the ten point victory. The Redhawks still maintain the series lead over UCSB 4-3, capturing wins in three of the last four contests. SU is a perfect 3-0 at home against the Gauchos dating back to 2011.

The Redhawks play their fourth game in eight days, traveling to Fresno State for a Tuesday night match up against the Bulldogs for their second road game of the season.
