SEATTLE - Seattle University volleyball (6-16, 0-11 WCC) kicks off Homecoming weekend celebrating its alumni against San Francisco (3-19, 1-11 WCC) at 1 PM on Saturday, November 8 at the Redhawk Center.

Sophomore Madyn Cervellera surpassed 300 kills on the season after her third straight double-digit kill effort in SU’s last three appearances. The outside hitter ranks fourth in the WCC on the season with 303 kills, averaging 3.40 per set. On the defensive end, Cervellera sits second on the team with 203 digs, averaging 2.28 per set. The mark ranks her 15th in the conference.

In addition to Cervellera, two Redhawks have crossed the century kill mark, with junior opposite Teagan Melton tallying 162 and redshirt junior Yasemin Elmas posting 130 kills through 22 matches.

Elmas leads the defensive charge, pacing the team with her career season best 76.0 blocks. The middle blocker ranks second on the team in solo blocks, picking up 13 so far this season, nearly doubling her career best in a single season.

Guarding the floor is freshman Katelynn Albano who leads the team with 243 digs on the season. The mark ranks 11th in the WCC on the year. Albano and fellow freshman Petra Fritz both rank amongst the top of the league from the service line, with Albano’s 27 aces ranking tied-8th in the WCC. Fritz ranks first in aces per set with .49 while claiming second in the league in aces with 38.

The Redhawks’ block ranks fourth in the WCC with 180 total through 89 sets. SU ranks fifth with 255 block assists and tied second with 53 solo blocks. Seattle U’s 53 solo blocks in a season is now second highest in the Division I era, surpassing 2023’s 51 on Thursday night.

The Redhawks 138 aces ties fifth in the conference and ties tenth all time in the Division I era, matching 2013.

The Redhawks trail the all-time series against San Francisco 1-5 dating back to the start of the series in 2008. SU claimed its lone win in 2019 on a neutral floor in four sets. Saturday’s contest is the first hosted by the Redhawks in the series, with the pair either playing on a neutral floor or in the Bay Area. Seattle U met the Dons a season ago with San Francisco claiming the win over SU in three sets.

Following the weekend, the Redhawks remain at home to host Portland in a rematch of the I-5 rivalry on Thursday, November 13 at 6 PM.
