SEATTLE - Elise Roe, Sydney Pollack, Marissa Lee, Joy Wilde and Leeloo Narvaez put pen to paper to join the Seattle University softball team as the class of 2030, as announced by head coach Geoff Hirai.
“Every class you look for speed, power and pitching,” Hirai shared. “This group is exactly that. We can’t wait for them to wear the Red and White for the next four years.”
Three of the future Redhawks, Pollack, Lee and Narvaez, hail from California. They’ll join eight of Seattle U’s roster with ties to Seattle’s West Coast affiliate for the 2027 season. Both Wilde and Roe keep their game in the state of Washington, staying close to home for the start of their collegiate careers. Wilde joins from nearby Tacoma and Roe comes in from the other side of the lake, arriving to Seattle U from Kirkland.
Roe enters her final season at Lake Washington HS as a four year varsity athlete playing primarily infield. During her tenure, she guided Lake Washington to a first place division finish as a sophomore, with the program holding an 11-1 record in conference competition. This past season, she was tabbed All-Crown Division KingCo First Team for the second time in her career. The infielder has also been a staple piece to the ai Bandits Fastpitch, her club team since her sophomore year.
“Elise is a local player that can flat out hit the ball, do not let her stature fool you,” said Hirai on the 5’3 second baseman. “We look forward to seeing her progress in our program.”
Roe has steadily built her batting average up since her first season and comes off a superb junior year hitting .576 for a total of 34 hits, including 14 doubles and two triples, while accruing eight RBI and 25 runs in 17 games. Through three seasons, she’s averaged a .527 batting average while tallying 106 hits, 86 runs and 43 RBI. Roe saw a career best 38 hits, 23 RBI and 36 runs in Lake Washington’s run to the District’s top spot her sophomore season.
Pollack enters her final year competing for Villa Park HS and playing club with Empire Fastpitch Premier. The Orange, California native was recently named All-League second team while also taking home best defensive player honors for Villa Park. Pollack excelled in the classroom, walking the line of student-athlete, achieving academic honors all four years. While at Seattle U, Pollack will be pursuing a degree in business.
“Sydney is a triple threat outfielder who can provide a lot for our program,” said Hirai. “We look for her to be a catalyst for us.”
Wilde has made waves in the greater Seattle area both on and off the field during her four years playing varsity at Lincoln HS and with her club team, the Sundodgers. The catcher/infielder earned back-to-back Tacoma Athletic Commission Player of the Year honors and comes off a season where she boasted a state and division leading .805 batting average. Wilde is also a self-published author, denoting her experiences with race and racism in sports in a series of short stories, and a member of the Seattle Mariners’ inaugural Hometown Nine class of 2025. The Mariners celebrated Wilde and her fellow Hometown Nine members over the summer for achieving a 100 percent graduation rate amongst the group.
“Joy is an excellent power hitter that will help us on both the corner infield and behind the plate,” Hirai said. “Her swag and confidence will also make an immediate impact on our team both on and off the field.”
The shortstop averaged a .714 batting average over four seasons, combining for 115 hits, including 28 doubles, 21 triples and 18 home runs, over 50 games. She posted 66 runs and 87 RBI while holding a .750 OBP. In her senior campaign, Wilde held her career best .805 batting average, while tallying her career best 24 runs, 36 RBI, seven triples and seven home runs.
Narvaez heads to Seattle from San Clemente, California following graduation from San Juan Hills HS. During her tenure, Narvaez led the team in triples through her most recent campaign, while also being tabbed most valuable pitcher as a junior. Her success extends into the classroom, earning distinction in the classroom in her advancement placement courses. The pitcher/utility player has spent the duration of her high school career with her club team, Watson Wolfpack.
“Leeloo is a two-way player who can compete at the plate and spin the ball with the best of them,” shared Hirai. “We look forward to seeing the energy she brings in over the next four years.”
Lee joins the program following her final varsity season with Northwood HS and playing club with Cruisers Fastpitch. The outfielder comes off her best season yet with Northwood, holding a career best .460 batting average after 50 at bats. She amassed 23 hits, seven RBI and 25 runs in her junior campaign. Through three seasons, she holds a .433 batting average, tallying 74 hits, 80 runs and 31 RBI.
“Marissa is a true versatile player, she can do it all,” said Hirai. “[She’s] a triple threat offensive player that can catch and play the outfield.”
Lee comes off a career high 11 stolen bases in her junior season, a mark that ranked amongst some of the best in the Pacific Coast and within Division IV. On the defensive end, she’s held a .978 fielding percentage through three years, amassing 99 put outs and 33 assists. In back-to-back seasons, Lee has been named All-League first team.
The class of 2030 will be the second group posed for the West Coast Conference action and the first with the potential to participate in the league’s post-season tournament. The 2030 Redhawks will welcome UC San Diego as the WCC’s newest member in their debut season in Seattle, with the conference expanding to seven programs that field a softball team in the 2027 season.
