SEATTLE - A graduate transfer, by way of Pepperdine University, Ella Brubaker makes her return home to Washington to join the Seattle U women’s basketball team as announced by head coach Skyler Young.

The University Place, Washington native began her collegiate basketball journey at The Master’s University where she spent three seasons at the NAIA level. During her tenure she was awarded an NAIA All-American honorable mention as a second year freshman and a sophomore. She was also named to the All-GSAC First Team twice. 

Brubaker was a key piece in The Master’s run to the 2022 GSAC Conference Tournament Championship and later assisted the push towards the NAIA Elite Eight that same season. In her final season, she averaged 21.9 points a contest, which ranked fifth in the NAIA.

The graduate guard transferred to Pepperdine, following in the footsteps of her parents, both alumni of the university. She made her debut with the Waves in 2023-24, ending the season as the team’s fifth leading scorer while sitting second on the team in made threes (23). She averaged 5.7 points a game in her first year, while shooting 32.9 percent from behind the arc.

This past season, Brubaker earned nine starts while appearing in 30 games. She averaged 8.6 points in 19.2 minutes of action on average. She shot 44.5 percent from the field while connecting on 18 shots from three. She corralled 31 steals while picking up 2.9 rebounds a game.

In her senior season at Pepperdine, Brubaker tallied 12 double digit scoring efforts, including three games with 20 points. She went for a season high four triples shooting 45.5 percent from the field against Gonzaga, scoring 17 points for the Waves in Spokane. In her first 20 point effort of the year, Brubaker shot 8-of-10 from the field while later she nearly collected a double-double, scoring 20 points and collecting nine rebounds against Nevada.

Brubaker graduated from Curtis High School in Tacoma where she became the program’s all-time leading scorer in 2020 (1,166 career points). She was a two-time All-South Puget Sound League selection and named Tacoma Athletic Commission’s Girls Basketball Athlete of the Year.
