IRVINE, Calif. - Brendan Ryan of Seattle U men's swimming was named the Big West Conference Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Ryan is coming off a stellar performance at the PAC Invite last week in Stockton.
"I am so proud of Brendan and happy for him to receive this award," Head Coach Joe Dykstra said. "Now a senior and captain of the men’s team, he has steadily improved every season. His year-round hard work is admirable and the reason he keeps getting better."
Ryan finished as the high point winner during the PAC Invite last week, scoring higher than the rest of the field with individual and relay performances. He took home first place finishes in the 200 Breaststroke (2:03.35) and the 100 Individual Medley. He also swam the breast leg in a 1st place finish in the 400 Medley Relay and 3rd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.
This is the first Swimmer of the Week honor for the Redhawk swimming program since joining the Big West conference as an affiliate member prior to the 2025-26 season.
Ryan and the men's team will be back in the pool when they host Puget Sound for a 2-day meet at the Redhawk Center starting Friday, Oct. 24.
