REDHAWK HEADLINES

ALL-TIME RECORD

Seattle U is 0-2-1 all-time vs Santa Clara. Their only meeting in California came in 2021, a 2-2 draw. The last time the two sides squared off was in 2023 at Championship Field, with the Redhawks dropping the match 0-2.

LAST TIME OUT

The Redhawks fell in their second WCC match of the season, 2-3, to Pepperdine last Saturday. After falling behind by two early, SU got goals from Marla Gaudlitz and U’i Kaaihue but a late Redhawk red card and Waves free kick goal dropped Seattle U to 0-2 in conference play.

REDHAWKS ATTACK PROVES TO BE LETHAL

Seattle U ranks second in goals scored in the WCC heading into the weekend. Their 20 team goals rank just behind Pepperdine’s 23. Behind Penner’s conference leading six goals, seven other Redhawks have found the back of the net and six have multiple goals this season.

ROAD SPLITS

The Redhawks are averaging 1.75 goals per game when playing on the road, while that jumps to 2.16 when playing at Championship Field. The goals allowed also sees a notable difference, allowing 2.25 on the road and just an even one per game at home.

NUMBER 360 FOR COACH WOODWARD

Head Coach Julie Woodward secured her 360th career win at the helm of the Redhawk program vs UNLV. She ranks top 70 among all coaches in women’s collegiate soccer history.

FROM THE WAC TO THE WCC

The 2025 season will be the first for the Redhawks in the West Coast Conference after spending the last 13 in the Western Athletic Conference. Seattle U won a combined 11 conference championships between regular season and tournament, and posted a record of 82-20-19 record during their time in the WAC.

PENNER LEADING THE WAY

Caroline Penner’s six goals currently lead the team and WCC. She currently sits 8th all-time in program history with 26 career goals, sitting just one behind Gina Mortimer (1990-91) for 7th.

KAAIHUE NETS 12th CAREER GOAL

U’i Kaaihue scored her second goal of the season and the 12th of her career in the Redhawks 2-3 loss vs Pepperdine on Saturday. She ranks second on the team for career goals, only trailing Penner’s 26.

KIRGAN CLOSING IN ON 200

Goalkeeper Kassidy Kirgan is just 15 saves away from reaching 200 for her career. She will become just the 3rd Redhawk to ever reach the 200 mark in program history, joining Madison Goverde (216, 2009-11) and Brianna Smallidge (265, 2012-15).

BYEMAN RECORDS FIRST COLLEGIATE ASSIST

Freshman Jaeyln Byeman recorded her first collegiate assist in the Redhawks loss to Pepperdine last week. She assisted Marla Gaudlitz off a free kick taken about 10 yards past the midfield line.
