SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Seattle U women's soccer midfielder U'i Kaaihue was named the West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

"U’i is such a special talent," Head Coach Julie Woodward said. "She is extremely creative, dynamic, and always provides such contagious energy when she is on the field."

Kaaihue, a senior out of Maui, HI., led the Redhawks to their third straight conference victory last week when she scored a brace in the 2-1 victory at San Francisco. She scored a top play worthy back heel goal in the 12th minute before scoring the eventual game-winner on a converted penalty kick in the 24th.

The performance brought her season goal total to six, one shy of a career personal best for her. She has also scored a goal in four of her last five appearances.

"Watching her play is pure joy," Woodward added. "She always looks like she’s having fun, and her player of the week honors were very well deserved for her performance on Saturday."

Kaaihue makes it back-to-back offensive player of the week honors for the Redhawks, as Marla Gaudlitz took home the honor last week. Caroline Penner also was named player of the week earlier in the season.

The Redhawks are back in action this Wednesday, Oct. 22, when they host I-5 rival Portland and Championship Field. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Pilots is scheduled for 7:00pm PT.
