SEATTLE - Seattle U men's soccer couldn't hold on for the win vs Gonzaga as they fought to a draw, 3-3, Wednesday night at Championship Field. The Redhawks had to split the point with their cross-state rivals despite the first collegiate hat-trick for Yeider Zuluaga.
Seattle U and Zuluaga would waste no time in the match before they took the lead, as the senior forward knocked home the opener in just the second minute of play off an assist from Ismeal Yeo. Despite the quick goal, both sides would go into the break even after a 34th minute goal from the visitors.
Lightening not only struck twice, but thrice in the second half, with Zuluaga securing the brace in the 62nd and a hat-trick in the 64th. Patrick Kearney would assist the first and Edgar Leon the second as the Redhawks built up a two-goal cushion. The goals also pushed Zuluaga back into a tie for the conference lead in goals this season at nine.

Despite the lead, the Redhawks saw the victory slip through their hands when the Bulldogs struck in the 70th and 83rd minutes as the visitors stormed back on a couple of SU defensive mistakes to force a draw.
The result moves the Redhawks to 3-4-5 on the season and to 1-1-2 in WCC play. They will look to get back into the win column on Saturday, Oct. 18, when they face 15th ranked San Diego in California. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Toreros is scheduled for 7:00pm PT.
