SEATTLE - Seattle U women's soccer fell in their home conference matchup with Pepperdine, 3-2, Saturday night at Championship Field. After falling behind early, the Redhawks battled back but a second half red card halted momentum in the loss.
In a similar start to their conference opener at Washington State on Wednesday, Seattle U found themselves down multiple goals early. Pepperdine netted the opener in the 6th and added another in the 30th.
The Redhawks would not go into the break in a 2-goal hole however, as Marla Gaudlitz headed home a Jaelyn Byeman pass in the 41st. It was the first goal of the season for Gaudlitz and the first collegiate assist for Byeman.

Pepperdine would score the first goal in the second half when a foul by Alana Lamb was deemed to be a goal denying act, giving Lamb a red card and a free kick to the Waves just outside the box. They would score directly off the free kick and the Redhawks found themselves down two again, this time with only 10 players.
Seattle U would not take loss lying down as U'i Kaaihue and Zoe Hopkins connected on a goal less than four minutes later, but that would be the last goal of the day as they came up short of knotting the match.
