Redhawks Drop Conference Opener in Pullman

A second half brace from Zoe Hopkins isn't enough to pull Redhawks out of early hole.

PULLMAN, Wash. - Seattle U women's soccer dropped their first match in the West Coast Conference, 2-4, as their late rally fell short vs Washington State on the Palouse.

For the first time this season the Redhawks conceded four goals in a match as the Cougars built up a commanding lead through the first 45 minutes of play.

Seattle U, behind a heroic effort from Zoe Hopkins, would mount a rally in the second half with the sophomore scoring her first two goals of the season. She would net one in the 59th and 77th, as she also recorded her first collegiate brace.

Time would not be on the Redhawks side with their early hole proving to be too difficult to climb out of as they dropped a match for the first time in the 2025 season.

The Redhawks will look to bounce back when they return to Championship Field to host Pepperdine on Saturday, Sep. 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm PT.
