SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Seattle U women's soccer forward Caroline Penner was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. Penner recorded three goals and assisted another between two matches last week.

"Caroline is an incredibly talented and hard-working player who leads by example every time she steps on the field," Head Coach Julie Woodward said of her forward. "Her recognition of player of the week honors is well deserved and a testament to the impact she has on our team both on and off the field."

Penner opened the week with a brace vs UNLV on Thursday at Championship Field. It was the fourth time in her career that she recorded a multi-goal game. She would also assist on a first half goal to lead the Redhawks to a 4-0 win.

Her goal scoring prowess would be shown off on the road as well, heading home an equalizing goal in the second half of the Redhawks 3-3 draw with Cal Poly on Sunday. It would wrap up a seven-point week for the senior out of Olympia, Wash., and an unbeaten non-conference for the first time in the program's Division I era.

The outstanding week also catapulted Penner to the top of the conference's statistical rankings, as she now leads in goals scored (6) and points (14).

Penner and the Redhawks will be back in action this week when they open WCC play in Pullman vs Washington State on Wednesday, Sep. 24.
