SEATTLE – The Seattle U cross country team is ready to continue its early-season momentum.

The Redhawks will travel across the state for the Cougar Classic in Colfax, Wash., on Friday, Sept. 12, where they’ll be joined by programs throughout the Northwest region. The women will race in the 6k at 5:00 pm, while the men’s 8k will begin at 5:45 pm.

The Palouse has produced some fond memories for Seattle U. In last year’s Cougar Classic, Liliane Hargreaves posted the fourth-best 6k time in Redhawks history (21:09.8), while 2025 returner Azalea Groleau finished 18th in a field of 150 entrants with a time of 21:17.2. Diana Camargo-Solis finished 51st with a 22:15.5 time. On the men’s side, Jeremy Posdon finished 69th out of 171 runners with an 8k time of 25:20.5.

Many Redhawks will be familiar with the meet, with 13 athletes (seven men, six women) on the 2025 roster having raced the Cougar Classic in 2024.

Friday’s meet comes after Seattle U wasted no time knocking the rust off in their season-opening dual meet against Washington on Sept. 2. Groleau finished first among all contestants in the women’s 5400 meter race with a time of 18:14.20, while freshman Roman Radecki finished first among Seattle U men with an 8800 meter time of 28:03.80.

The Redhawks’ potential will be on full display in a crowded field in Colfax, as they look to continue to grow in their second season under head coach Jordana LeSavage. After the meet, Seattle U will next race on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Charles Bowles Invite in Salem, Ore.
