SEATTLE - Audrey Borup and Ava Day will join the Seattle U softball team as part of the incoming class of 2029 as announced by head coach Geoff Hirai. The duo join Aurora Zepeda, Oona Capristo, Mia Powell and Jaeden Sajec through the most recent signing period.
Both Borup and Day are Washington products. Borup hails from Sammamish, competing for Eastlake HS and travel ball with the Washington Ladyhawks. The catcher/infielder has played varsity softball for Eastlake all four years. In three seasons, she has accrued 262 putouts while holding a .965 fielding percentage. During her tenure, she collected All-District KingCo first and second team honors, while earning team MVP honors her senior year. She paced Eastlake in home runs, recording the most on the team in back-to-back seasons.
Day joins the program upon graduation from Central Kitsap HS. The Silverdale native also competes as a member of the AI Bandits club team. Day plays primarily infield and has been a member of Central Kitsap's varsity team all four years. Through three seasons, the future Redhawk has posted a .474 batting average and totaled 83 runs and 92 hits. Over her tenure, she was tabbed a first team shortstop three years in a row, while earning second team honors as a pitcher her freshman year. The Kitsap Sun Player of the Year guided Central Kitsap to three district appearances and a state appearance, while earning MVP distinction all four years.
The group (Borup, Day, Zepeda, Capristo, Powell and Sajec) will be the first class to move through the West Coast Conference, as Seattle U officially joined the league in early July. The Redhawks will share a season with their new conference counterparts LMU, San Diego, Pacific, Saint Mary's and Santa Clara, as well as affiliate Oregon State, in 2026.
