Four Seed Redhawks Await WAC Tournament

SEATTLE - No. 4 seed Seattle U softball prepares for its postseason push starting in the double elimination rounds of the 2025 WAC Tournament. The Redhawks will face off with the winner of No. 5 Abilene Christian and No. 8 Utah Valley on Wednesday evening at John C. Funk Stadium in Riverside, California.

SEATTLE - No. 4 seed Seattle U softball prepares for its postseason push starting in the double elimination rounds of the 2025 WAC Tournament. The Redhawks will face off with the winner of No. 5 Abilene Christian and No. 8 Utah Valley on Wednesday evening at John C. Funk Stadium in Riverside, California. 
 
Seattle U produced the second most recipients of post season awards behind WAC regular season champion Grand Canyon, as six total awards were presented to five Redhawks (Nicola Simpson, Berkley Vance, Avari Morris, Karen Spadafora and Mikee Morris). Spadafora locked up the final WAC Player of the Week award on Monday following the series win over UT Arlington.
 
Sophomore Avari Morris leads the Redhawks a .431 batting average, amassing 44 hits, 21 RBI and 11 runs in 102 at bats. She's gone for seven doubles, three triples and a home run on the season while locking up 23 putouts and 17 assists between right field and the circle. The dual-threat has pitched 77.2 innings this season, recording 65 strikeouts for six wins in 18 appearances. 
 
Sophomore Karen Spadafora holds a .348 batting average and a team leading .638 slugging after recording 48 hits, 33 RBI and 25 runs over the regular season. Her 250 putouts is second most on the team and she leads all Redhawks with seven runners caught stealing.
 
Graduate Jasmine Wehn leads the Redhawk defense with a new season career high 305 putouts. The first baseman has been a crucial piece to the offense as well, holding a .313 batting average after 49 contests. Her 52 hits is second on the team and a new career high. She has recorded 35 RBI, 21 runs and 14 doubles this season.
 
Junior Taylor Fitch holds a .327 batting average built behind a team leading 53 hits. She leads all Redhawks with 46 RBI, 11 home runs and 15 doubles. Senior Tai Wilson paces the team with 45 runs scored and matches Spadafora with 48 hits this season. She leads all Redhawks with three triples and 10 stolen bases. 
 
Sophomore Mikee Morris was named as one of the six-member All-WAC Defensive Team following an All-WAC Preseason team recognition. She leads all Redhawks with 91 assists this season. The shortstop is the final of three Redhawks with 50+ hits this season. In 166 at bats, Morris has secured 50 hits, 17 RBI and 34 runs. 
 
Leading from the circle is dual-threat senior Nicola Simpson. Her 2.09 ERA leads all Redhawk pitchers. In 103.2 innings pitched, Simpson has guided SU to nine wins in 20 appearances. She has struck out 87 batters this season while limiting opponents to a .238 batting average. As a hitter, Simpson has recorded 42 hits on the year, including 10 doubles and six home runs, 20 runs and 28 RBI.
 
Sophomore Berkley Vance rounds out the quintet of Redhawks with All-WAC honors. She pitched a team leading 104.1 innings and secured nine wins from the circle while striking out 72 batters. Her .231 OBA ranks first on the team and top-five in the conference. 
 
Seattle U holds the final game slot for day one of the tournament and will face the winner of No. 5 Abilene Christian and No. 8 Utah Valley. The Redhawks went 3-3 against the Wildcats and Wolverines, book ending their home conference slate with the pair. 
 
The Redhawks finished tied-fourth in the conference with ACU and CBU with an 11-13 WAC record. SU secured the series sweep over the Wildcats while recording two more wins overall to CBU. Utah Valley moved to 8-15 in conference following the series victory at Logan Field over Seattle U to lock up the final spot in the tournament field.
 
SU carries a two game winning streak in the tournament after locking down Saturday's doubleheader in extras against the Mavericks. Should the Redhawks advance they will face No. 1 Grand Canyon on Thursday afternoon or else they'll take the long road through to the semifinals.
 
The Redhawks begin their push to Championship Saturday beginning on May 7 at 7 PM PT. Their opponent will be decided following the conclusion of game two, which begins at 1 PM PT.
