LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior Nicola Simpson and sophomore Avari Morris became the respective seventh and eighth Seattle U softball players in the history of the program to secure NFCA All-Region recognition, with Simpson earning a spot on the NFCA All Region Second Team and Morris NFCA All Region Third Team, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association this afternoon.

It's the seventh consecutive season, excluding the missed 2020 season, that a Redhawk has earned an All-Region selection and the fourth time multiple Redhawks earned a distinction in one season.

Simpson was an instrumental feature to the Redhawk offense and defense all season, as her prowess in the circle and as the team's designated player landed her an All-WAC Second Team nod. The Seattle native boasted season career bests in multiple categories as a hitter and pitcher, guiding the team to ten wins from the circle while posting 47 hits, 32 RBI, and 21 runs across 165 at bats. She lowered her season ERA to 2.40, a new career best, while tossing out 97 batters, three shy of tying the tenth most all-time in a single season. Simpson was fourth on the team in assists, accounting for 33 from the circle.

Morris acted as a similar dual-threat while also earning an All-WAC Second Team honor. She appeared in 21 contests as a pitcher and grabbed six wins from the circle, including the program's sixth ever no-hitter. However, it was her offensive flare that paced the Redhawks all season, with her .418 batting average ranking tied-67th in the country. The Henderson, Nevada native debuted as a hitter for the first time this year and was one of seven Redhawks with 45+ recorded hits. She secured 22 RBI and 11 runs in 110 at bats. Defensively, Morris saw consistent action in right field, accounting for 24 putouts and 18 assists between the outfield and pitcher's circle.

The pair combined for 18 doubles, three triples and seven home runs while Simpson saw career season highs in doubles (11) and home runs (6). Morris knocked out two triples on the year. Between the duo, they took home three WAC Pitcher of the Week awards.
