ARLINGTON, Texas - The Western Athletic Conference announced its year-end awards today, with Seattle University's Lamija Avdic and Natalia Michta each earning honors. Avdic was named the WAC Player of the Year, All-WAC First Team in singles, and All-WAC Second Team in doubles alongside Michta. Avdic is the first Redhawk in program history to earn WAC Player of the Year.

This is the second straight year that Avdic has been honored with a Player of the Year award after earning Freshman of the Year last season. Avdic is the first Redhawk ever to earn WAC Player of the Year and the first to earn All-WAC First Team multiple times, doing so in each of the last two years. She is one of four Redhawks ever to earn All-WAC honors for singles play, alongside Kyra Jung (2018), Michelle Lui (2015-18), and Kelli Woodman (2014-16).

The duo of Avdic and Michta earn All-WAC Second Team honors for doubles play. They are the fifth Redhawk duo to do so and first since 2022. Liliya Dimova & Elena Kraleva (2022), Kyra Jung & Hannah Gianan (2018), Michelle Lui & Madison Maloney (2017), and Michelle Lui & Kelli Woodman (2015 & 2016) have also earned All-WAC Doubles year-end honors.

This year, Avdic and Michta lost just once in ten matches paired together, winning seven times. At one point, that duo won five consecutive doubles matches. Their only loss came via the tiebreaker, while six of their seven wins came by at least three points.

Avdic won 12 singles matches this year while losing just six. That includes just one loss during the fall season and only two losses in the final two months of the season. Avdic finished out the year going undefeated in the final six dual matches, winning four of those six matches.
