SEATTLE, WA - Seattle U baseball dropped their match up with crosstown rivals Washington, 3-4, Tuesday night at Husky Ballpark. The Redhawks held a lead for the first 7.5 innings, but a Husky rally in the 8th proved to be the difference as SU dropped the first of three meetings.
The Redhawks jumped out to a quick lead in the 1st inning when back-to-back drawn walks by Kenny Ishikawa and Tyler Peterson set the table for a Reese Harmon RBI single. Reese would then help produce the second run of the inning on the base path, getting caught up in a run-down that allowed Peterson to score with the Huskies preoccupied.
After the Huskies scored one run in the 2nd, the Redhawks would get it back in the 7th with Peterson drawing the bases loaded walk. Petersons in total would go 1-for-2 at the plate with three walks and an RBI.
Once again, the home team chipped away by matching the SU run in the 7th. Then, aided by a costly Redhawk error, the Huskies would score two runs in the 8th to take the lead. Seattle U would get two on in the top of the 9th trying to extend the ballgame but could not push a run across.
The loss drops the Redhawks to 12-20 on the season and to 2-12 in true road games. They will be back in conference play this weekend when they start a 3-game series with Sacramento State starting Friday, April 11.
