ARLINGTON, Texas - The Seattle University Redhawks had a Senior Day to remember, with Filip Stipic, Yuan Lu, and Yu-Han Hsieh all earning Western Athletic Conference weekly honors. Stipic earned WAC Singles Player of the Week, while Lu and Hsieh earned Doubles Players of the Week.
This is the second time this year that the Redhawks have swept the WAC weekly awards and the second time that Lu and Hsieh have earned Doubles Player of the Week. That duo won the award in February, with Lu also earning Singles Player of the Week. Before that, the last time the Redhawks swept the WAC weekly awards was 2022, when Stipic earned Singles Player of the Week and the duo of Julian Worn and Veselin Kiselkov earned Doubles Player of the Week.
Lu and Hsieh are the first duo to win multiple Doubles Player of the Week awards in the same season since Kiselkov did so in 2023. Lu's three WAC weekly awards this year are the most ever in a single season for the Redhawks. Julian Worn is the last Redhawk to earn three or more WAC weekly awards in their career.
This is Stipic's second career WAC Singles Player of the Week award, having also earning it in 2022. Stipic is the first Redhawk ever to earn multiple Singles Player of the Week awards in their career since the WAC split its weekly awards into Singles and Doubles categories in 2017.
Stipic earned a three-set win on court one in the Redhawks' 5-2 victory over Portland State. After falling 5-7 in set one, Stipic bounced back with a 7-5 set two win, then took control with a 6-1 win in set three.
Lu and Hsieh played on court one for the Redhawks, with their win clinching the doubles point. That duo won 6-3 on court one.
Next up for the Redhawks in the WAC Tournament, which begins April 17 in Arlington, Texas.
