BELLEVUE, WA - Seattle U baseball secured their first conference series win of the season after splitting their Saturday doubleheader with Tarleton State, 3-0 and 2-7, at Bannerwood Park. The Redhawks also took the series opener on Friday, taking 2-of-3 from the Texans on the weekend.
Game 1:
Luke Alwood (1-1) and Micha Hagler combined to throw a shutout in the first game of the doubleheader. Alwood started and went five while matching a career high with seven strikeouts. Hagler tossed the final four innings, securing his first save and striking out another four Texans.
The three Redhawk runs came on a solo home run by Vicente Feliciano in the 3rd, an RBI double by Tyler Peterson in the 7th, and a Tarleton State wild pitch plated Jackson Lind in the 8th.
Game one's victory secured the series for the Redhawks, their first conference series win of the season.
Game 2:
After being tied at 1-1 through three innings of play, the Texans would score six of the final seven runs of the game to deny the Redhawks the series sweep.
Kenny Ishikawa (2-3) was credited with the loss on the mound after going 3.2 IP an allowing four earned. Isaac Hallam, Ryan Morrison, Reid Madariaga, and Kaden Alberghini were all called on to make relief appearances.
Tyler Peterson was drove in both runs in the second game, bringing his day total to three runs batted in.
The split moved the Redhawks to 12-19 on the season and to 3-6 in conference play. They will be back in action this Tuesday, April 8, when they face crosstown rivals Washington at Husky Ballpark.
