SEATTLE – It was a successful Senior Day, with the Seattle University Redhawks winning 5-2 over Portland State. The Redhawks honored seniors Michael Frank, Oliver Hall, Jayden Harrison, Veselin Kiselkov, Dario Ristovski, Jun Sasagawa, and Filip Stipic before the dual match.
The day started off right with the Redhawks winning the doubles point. Yuan Lu and Yu-Han Hsieh won on court one 6-3, their first time playing on court one together this season. Kiselkov and Sasagawa paired on court two and put together a dominant 6-0 victory.
In singles play, Sasagawa started things off with a 6-3, 6-3 win on court three, giving the Redhawks a 2-0 lead overall. Stipic and Frank also earned victories, while Ristovski picked up a win via retirement.
Stipic had a come-from-behind victory on court one. After losing set one 5-7, Stipic won set two 7-5, then put together a resounding 6-1 victory in set three to clinch a point. Frank won 6-0, 6-2 in his match, giving Seattle U its fourth point and securing the victory. Ristovski led 6-4, 3-1 when his match ended in retirement.
The Redhawks are off to the Western Athletic Conference Tournament next. That competition begins April 17 in Arlington, Texas.
