Softball Welcomes Utah Valley for Senior Weekend

SEATTLE - Seattle U softball wraps its 2025 home slate with a three-game series against Utah Valley, starting with a doubleheader on Friday, April 25 before concluding with a celebration of six Redhawk seniors in the series finale on Saturday, April 26 at Logan Field.

SEATTLE - Seattle U softball wraps its 2025 home slate with a three-game series against Utah Valley, starting with a doubleheader on Friday, April 25 before concluding with a celebration of six Redhawk seniors in the series finale on Saturday, April 26 at Logan Field. 
 
Graduate Jasmine Wehn leads the Redhawks with 47 hits on the season, including a team leading 13 doubles that ranks second in the WAC. The first baseman holds a .322 batting average on the year, while sitting second on the team with 34 RBI. Defensively, Wehn paces the team and ranks fourth in the WAC with 262 putouts.
 
Senior Tai Wilson leads the team and ranks second in the league in runs scored, with 39 on the year. Wilson has 43 hits this season, including a conference pacing three triples and has locked up 68 putouts from left field. 
 
Senior Amanda Morris has made 26 appearances on the season and has accounted for 11 hits and nine RBI in 48 at bats. She's maintained a perfect fielding percentage when out in right field, collecting a perfect 10 putouts in 10 chances. 
 
Senior KJ Hopfer secured second base for the Redhawk defense through 30 games where she locked up a career season best 46 assists and 39 putouts.
 
Senior Nicola Simpson executes across all phases for the Redhawks, ranking top-five on the team in both hitting and pitching. She holds a .317 batting average this season, accounting for 40 hits and 25 RBI. She's knocked out 10 doubles and six home in 126 at bats. 
 
Simpson commands the Redhawks from the circle with a 1.90 ERA that ranks second in the WAC and 35th in the nation, striking out 76 batters in 88.1 innings pitched. She leads the team with eight wins and holds opponents to a .230 batting average.
 
Senior Naomi Chaidez has secured two wins for the Redhawks from the circle while preserving the win against Southern Utah last Saturday. She's pitched 37.2 innings and struck out 21 batters on the year.
 
Leading the Redhawks offensively and coming off her first career home run is sophomore Avari Morris. Following the grand slam on Saturday over the Thunderbirds, Avari holds a .470 batting average, accounting for 39 hits and 18 RBI in 83 at bats. Much like Simpson, Avari poses as a dual-threat having pitched 70.1 innings on the season. She's collected six wins from the circle and struck out 59 batters.
 
Junior Taylor Fitch paces the team and sits second in the WAC with 43 RBI. She's collected 45 hits on the year and ranks second in the conference with her team leading 11 home runs.
 
Now leading the Redhawks in innings pitched is sophomore Berkley Vance. She's appeared for 90.1 innings and accounted for eight wins from the circle while striking out 60 batters. Vance has held her opponents to a .240 batting average in 20 appearances.
 
As a unit, the Redhawks are batting .299, tallying 359 hits, 209 RBI and 225 runs after 43 contests. Defensively, they hold a combined 3.35 ERA and .260 opposing batting average while striking out 216 batters.
 
Seattle U ranks fifth in the nation in doubles per game, knocking out 1.86 a contest for 80 total on the year, while also ranking 81st in the country in strikeouts per seven innings, averaging 5.35 a game.
 
Coming into the series, Utah Valley posts a combined .281 batting average behind 289 hits, 157 RBI and 169 runs scored on the year. The Wolverines post a collective 5.69 ERA through 248.2 innings pitched. They hold their opponents to a .320 batting average and have struck out 177 batters.
 
The Redhawks lead the all-time series against the Wolverines 33-20 dating back to their first contest in 2009. They are 18-8 in Seattle since then and have not dropped a home game to the Wolverines since 2022. In the last five meetings, the Redhawks are 3-2, with the Wolverines securing the most recent wins a season ago in Orem, Utah.
 
After Saturday's game against Utah Valley, the Redhawks will celebrate all six of their graduating seniors in recognizing Naomi Chaidez, KJ Hopfer, Amanda Morris, Nicola Simpson, Jasmine Wehn and Tai Wilson. Following the weekend, the Redhawks hit the road for the final time in the regular season, traveling to UT Arlington for three games before preparing for the 2025 WAC Tournament.
