ARLINGTON, Texas – An undefeated weekend saw Lamija Avdic and Natalia Michta earn Western Athletic Conference Doubles Players of the Week. This is the second time this year the Redhawks have earned Doubles Players of the Week and the third honor from the WAC already this year: Avdic also individually earned WAC Singles Player of the Week.

Avdic and Michta won both their doubles matches on court one, against Utah Tech and Grand Canyon. Against Utah Tech, Avdic and Michta won 6-3, then won 6-2 the next day against host Grand Canyon.
Avdic and Michta have now won eight straight doubles matches playing together. That has helped the Redhawks earn the doubles point in back-to-back matches.

This is the first weekly honor from the WAC for Michta in her Redhawk career. This is the second time this year that Avdic has earned WAC Doubles Player of the Week and the fourth time in her career. Earlier this year, Avdic earned the award with Liliya Dimova after becoming the first Redhawks ever to qualify for ITA Conference Masters by winning the WAC Fall Invitational.

Avdic, Michta, and the Redhawks will be back in action at home for Senior Day next, hosting Eastern Washington on April 6 at the Amy Yee Tennis Center.
