PHOENIX, AZ - Seattle U baseball dropped a thrilling, 11-inning affair with Grand Canyon, 5-6, Saturday night in Phoenix. The Redhawks battled back from an early 3-run deficit and eventually took the lead in the 9th and 10th but couldn't hold the Lopes off as they walked it off in the 11th.

"Very proud of our offense and defense tonight, as they battled their tails off to put us in a position to win a couple different times," said head coach Donny Harrel post-game. "We just need to find way to close out game on the mound at the end, as we've not been able to do that now is several games this year."

The top three spots in the order propelled the Redhawks to the comeback, with Kenny Ishikawa, Tyler Peterson, and Jake Wagoner all recording an RBI. Wagoner went 4-for-5 on the day, setting a new single-game career high for the sophomore. Peterson's RBI in the 9th gave the Redhawks their first lead of the game.

After the Lopes answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the 9th, it was Jared Stevenson who put SU back in front with an RBI single in the 10th. That would be the end of the Redhawk runs on the night as Grand Canyon would match in the 10th and walk it off with another in the 11th.

Luke Alwood had the start on the mound, going 3.0 IP and allowing three earned in a no-decision. Micah Hagler had a stellar outing out of the pen, tossing 4.2 scoreless innings and allowing the offense to rally. Reid Madariaga (1-2) was dinged with the loss after giving up the final three Lope runs of the night.

"Hagler was excellent in the bridge and deserved to win that game," Harrel added. "We'll go back to work and get after it tomorrow and hope for better results."

The loss drops the Redhawks to 9-17 on the season and to 1-4 in conference play. They will look to salvage the series with game three set for tomorrow, March 30. Kenny Ishikawa is slated to make the start for Seattle U with first pitch at 12:00pm PT.
