Morris Homers in Tarleton State Series Finale

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - A spark of offense for Seattle U softball immediately kicked off the conference series finale against Tarleton State but the Redhawks (21-12, 7-2 WAC) would concede the final game 10-2 to the Texans (20-15, 6-6 WAC) at Tarleton Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon.

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - A spark of offense for Seattle U softball immediately kicked off the conference series finale against Tarleton State but the Redhawks (21-12, 7-2 WAC) would concede the final game 10-2 to the Texans (20-15, 6-6 WAC) at Tarleton Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Redhawks combined for five hits, two runs and two RBI in the finale.
 
Sophomore Mikee Morris paced the team with her home run, recording the hit in three at bats on the day. Her sister, sophomore Avari Morris, went for extra bases, recording a double and scoring a run in two at bats. Junior Taylor Fitch also recorded a double for the Redhawks, collecting the hit in two at bats.
 
Seniors Amanda Morris and Nicola Simpson rounded out the group with hits on the day, each recording one. 
 
Leading from the circle was senior Naomi Chaidez. She pitched for 3.2 innings and faced 25 batters while striking out two of them. Avari Morris pitched the final 0.2 innings. She faced five batters and struck out one. Together the pair only gave up three earned runs.
 
Mikee Morris led off with her homer out of left field to take the early 1-0 lead before the Texans struck back in the bottom of the second. The Redhawks kept the Texans scoreless in the third before SU scored its next run in the top of the fourth. Avari Morris got on base behind her double to center field before freshman Abbie Fales was walked. Amanda Morris came in to pinch hit, delivering a single to load the bases. Freshman Camryn Johnson came in for the RBI sacrifice fly to allow Avari Morris to score.
 
The Texans scored the final seven runs between the fourth and fifth to take game three 10-2.
 
Seattle U returns home for a group of games, including a home three game series against California Baptist at Logan Field on April 4-5.
