SEATTLE - In addition to the four freshmen en route to Seattle this fall, the Seattle U volleyball team welcomed four to campus by way of the transfer in Adee Butler, Madyn Cervellera, Kaitlyn Gotsch and Teagan Melton, as announced by head coach Dan Behnke.
Adee Butler joins as a familiar face from the WAC. The Pocatello, Idaho native spent two seasons with Utah Tech where she was named to the All-WAC Freshman team in her first season and All-Academic at the conclusion of her first year. She amassed 33 kills hitting a career .287 in seven matches totaling 15 sets. Out of high school, Butler was tabbed twice as an All-State selection while also being named All-Area MVP.
"Adee is a gamer. She has an aggressive mindset and is already providing a spark in our practices," said Coach Behnke.
Madyn Cervellera, a native of Lake Stevens, Wash. returns home after a season at Cal Poly Humboldt. In her collegiate debut, the outside hitter cataloged 116 kills, averaging 2.04 a set in 17 matches played. She posted 129 digs and 16 total blocks. Out of high school, she was named First Team Kingco in her final two seasons at North Creek HS.
"Madyn is a local player we've known of for some time. Excited to have her join us as she already has a strong connection with one of our setters, Grace Jones, where they played together at SpaceNeedle Volleyball Club," shared Behnke.
Kaitlyn Gotsch also holds ties to the WAC after spending her freshman season at GCU. She joined Seattle U having played at Chattanooga in 2024, where she made her collegiate debut. While with the Mocs, she made two appearances, earning playing time against Alabama A&M and UNC Greensboro. Out of high school, Gotsch was named to the AVCA All-Region Team and District 19-5A Middle Blocker of the Year.
"Kaitlyn is a long Middle Blocker with a reach of 6'7"," Behnke shared, "Also a quick learner and she'll provide us with some depth in the middle."
Rounding out the newcomers is incoming redshirt sophomore Teagan Melton. The Bellbrook, Ohio native joins on after a season with Marshall. The outside hitter saw action in eight matches, while tallying a season best 10 kills in the finale against James Madison. She notched 17 kills, averaging 1.31 kills a set in 13 sets. Out of high school, Melton was named an All-District honorable mention and All-Conference second team twice.
"Teagan is a lefty right side with a lot of power. She's a super hard worker and great for our culture," said Behnke.
The group joined Seattle U's nine returners from 2024 having graduated four. Like the incoming class of 2025, Butler, Cervellera, Melton and Gotsch will all be part of the first group in transition into the West Coast Conference, where the Redhawks are set to compete starting July 2025.
