PHOENIX – In the first of two matches this weekend, the Seattle University Redhawks defeated Utah Tech 5-2. Liliya Dimova won both her matchups, pairing with Lola Tavcar for a doubles victory and winning in straight sets in singles. Lamja Avdic also picked up two wins, in doubles with Natalia Michta and in singles on court one.
Avdic and Michta made it seven consecutive matches undefeated in doubles play, winning 6-3. Tavcar and Dimova paired up for the first time this spring and earned a 6-0 doubles victory.
Dimova's singles victory came on court three. The senior won 6-4, 6-2 for Seattle U's first singles point of the day. Avdic fought through a close match on court one. After winning in the tiebreak in set one 7-6 (7-5), Avdic won 7-5 in set two.
Larissa Teramura also earned a singles victory via retired opponent. Teramura led 6-3, 4-0 at the conclusion of that match.
It was Michta's singles win on court two that sealed the overall match victory for the Redhawks. Michta won 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in the only match of the day to go three sets.
Avdic and Dimova have both gone undefeated in singles play over the last three matches, with Avdic going 2-0 in that time with one unfinished match. Michta is 3-1 in singles play over the last six matches.
The Redhawks are back in action tomorrow against host Grand Canyon at 9:00 am PT.
