SEATTLE - Seattle U softball returns to conference action after accumulating a 4-1 record in its last six appearances. The Redhawks (21-10, 6-0 WAC) travel to Stephenville, Texas for a three-game series against Tarleton State (18-14, 4-5 WAC), starting with a doubleheader at Tarleton Softball Complex on Friday.

In the most recent D1Softball Mid-Major Top-25, the Redhawks came in at No. 12 after downing Creighton in all three games to secure one of the longest active winning streaks in all of division one softball. Later that same day, Cal Poly disrupted the streak behind a narrow 2-1 decision at Logan Field in game two of a doubleheader against the Mustangs.

Sophomore Avari Morris leads the Redhawks with a .479 batting average on the season. She has accounted for 23 hits in 48 at bats after 25 appearances on the season. The dual-way player has also made waves from the circle, pitching 45.1 innings and guiding the Redhawks to five wins. Morris became the fifth ever Redhawk pitcher to toss a no-hitter, meeting the feat in the 9-0 victory over Yale in Phoenix at the end of February.

Morris is one of three Redhawk pitchers to take home a WAC weekly award for their performance in the circle. Sophomore Berkley Vance is the most recent recipient, earning the distinction on March 24 after guiding the Redhawks to victory in comeback fashion, pitching a new career high 8.0 innings while delivering a new career high 13 strikeouts. Her 13 strikeouts is tied-second most in program history for strikeouts in a single game.

Senior Nicola Simpson leads all Redhawks with eight wins and a 1.90 ERA from the circle. She picked up her most recent win in game one against Cal Poly. Simpson has pitched 88.1 innings this season while handing out a team leading 76 strikeouts, which ranks tied-62nd in the nation. Simpson also acts as a dual threat, ranking top-five on the team as a hitter. She posts a .327 batting average, accounting for 32 hits, including nine doubles, and 21 RBI.

Graduate Jasmine Wehn paces the team with 36 hits and ten doubles. She holds a .326 batting average and has collected 30 RBI on the season. Leading the team in home runs are both junior Taylor Fitch and sophomore Karen Spadafora. The pair have eight a piece, with Spadafora collecting homer number eight against Cal Poly.

Spadafora holds a .365 batting average on the season and a .688 slugging percentage. She has 35 hits and 25 RBI. Fitch hits .343 with 35 hits, while leading the team and WAC with 33 RBI.

As a team, the Redhawks are hitting .311 after 31 games, amassing 274 hits, 181 runs and 165 RBI. They are holding their opponents to a .247 batting average, only allowing 205 hits, 123 runs and 108 RBI. As a collective, SU holds a 3.01 ERA to its opponent's 5.03 ERA.

Seattle U ranks 63rd in the country in batting average, while ranking 59th in ERA. The Redhawks are 65th in the country in scoring, averaging 5.84 runs a game. They sit tied-41st in the nation with 274 hits, while ranking fifth in the country in doubles per game, recording 2.03 a contest on average.

Tarleton State posted a 3-1 record last week, defeating Prairie View A&M while collecting two games of its series against Grand Canyon in Phoenix. As a team, the Texans are hitting .300 while holding their opponents to a .276 batting average. They have tallied 251 hits, 171 runs and 159 as a unit, holding their opponents to 234 hits, 117 runs and 99 RBI. Tarleton State combines for a 4.07 ERA.

Seattle U and Tarleton State have met ten times since the series began in 2007. The Texans hold the series edge 6-4 despite the most recent victory by the Redhawks in 2024. SU took the last game of the series behind a 6-1 victory in Seattle. This weekend's series is just the second three-game slate in Stephenville, having last played there in 2021. The Texans took game one of that series but the Redhawks locked up the remaining two games.

Seattle U is 7-4 on the road this season while Tarleton State is 12-6 at home.

Following the weekend, the Redhawks return home to Seattle for a game at cross-town rival Washington on Tuesday, April 1 before hosting California Baptist for three-games at Logan Field starting Friday, April 4.
