ARLINGTON, Texas - A strong showing at the Red Rocks Invitational led to Tsara Ralamboarison earning Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week. This is the first conference weekly honor for Ralamboarison, who finished second at the Red Rocks Invitational.
The award comes on the heels of an impressive 18 holes from Ralamboarison, who battled the weather to record a score of -2 under, 70, just one stroke off the individual competition championship. The Red Rocks Invitational was originally scheduled for 54 holes, only for snow to reduce it to one 18-hole round, split into two days of nine holes. Ralamboarison shot -1 under during each nine-hole day, one of only 14 golfers to shoot under par that week. Only host Northern Arizona's Ellena Slater had a better round, just one stroke ahead of Ralamboarison.
The -2 under, 70 single-round score was Ralamboarison's third-best of her Redhawk career and second-best this season, behind only her -4 under, 68 round two from the Harbottle Invitational.
Ralamboarison joins Rivekka Jumagulova, Aaryanna Morris, and Shayna Lu as the active Redhawks to have earned WAC Player of the Week. Jumagulova did so twice last season, once during 2022, and twice in 2021, while Morris did so once last season. Lu earned WAC Player of the Week as a freshman during 2022. The last WAC Player of the Week honors for the Redhawks came in April 2024, when Jumagulova was so honored.
The Redhawks and Ralamboarison will be back in action shortly as they head to Hawai'i for the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. That three-day competition begins on Monday, March 24.
