SEATTLE - Seattle U volleyball expanded its ranks in preparation for the 2025 season, welcoming four new freshmen Redhawks in Petra Fritz, Alohalani Chun, Katelynn Albano and Evie Morrissette after the most recent signing period.

All four freshmen join from out of state, with two traveling from Hawai'i. The lone Pacific Northwest tie is Evie Morrissette. A product of Salem, Oregon, Morrissette was a four year varsity letter winner and two-time team captain of Sprague High School. The setter/opposite helped guide her team to the Oregon 6A state playoffs three years in a row, finishing as high as fourth place in 2024.

"She's one of the better setters in Oregon. Evie has good decision making skills and develops great connections with her hitters," said head coach Dan Behnke.

In back-to-back seasons, Morrissette has been a member of the Central Valley All-Conference First Team while earning recognition on the All-Academic team for three straight years. In 2022 she was dubbed the Most Improved Player and captured an all-conference honorable mention. She has an expansive history on club teams dating back to 2018, though most notably, she played for North Pacific Juniors National teams per respective age groups.

Fritz also hails from the continental U.S., making her way to Seattle from Albuquerque, New Mexico. The outside hitter played primarily for her club program E3 Volleyball 18-1 this season, joining the team at the turn of the new year. She helped guide her travel team to key match victories on the national level, including securing a bid to the national tournament this past spring. Her efforts landed her with a player of the week distinction.

"Petra is an impact player who we anticipate seeing the court right away," shared Behnke, "She has great power and wrist control. She travels from New Mexico to San Diego, CA each week to play for Coast's top select team so she's competing against some upper level teams in southern California."

Both Albano and Chun are from Hawai'i. Albano, a libero/defensive specialist, went to Hawai'i Baptist Academy and played club volleyball most recently with Ka UluKoa. The four year varsity starter helped lead her team to a runner up finish at the D2 State Championship in 2022. In 2024, the team secured the championship and Albano was named to the all-tournament team that year. She took home two conference recognitions between 2022 and 2023, earning second team in 2022 and an honorable mention in 2023.

"Katelynn is quick, a good reader and solid passer. She understands the game and will provide some depth with the loss of Katlyn Sipes and Erin Goya in our backcourt," said Behnke.

Chun is a product of Kamehameha Schools, which most recently made a run in the 2024 HHSAA DI State tournament. The outside hitter also dualed as a middle blocker, possessing a strong presence up front after leading the way for her team's blocking effort. "She's an athletic outside hitter who filled in as a middle blocker in high school. She's fiery and will be a good fit in our gym," Behnke shared. Chun helped guide her team to a runner-up finish in the regular season while securing the HHSAA DI title in 2024. The win granted Chun and Kamehameha back-to-back state titles.

The group will be the first to debut in Seattle U's return to the West Coast Conference, with the move slated for July 2025.
