ARLINGTON, Texas - After an undefeated week, Lamija Avdic has been named the Western Athletic Conference Singles Player of the Week. This is Avdic's first singles weekly award from the WAC and fifth overall conference honor, including Doubles Player of the Month and Freshman of the Year.

Last week, Avdic played on court one in both doubles and singles as the Redhawks took on Sacramento State and Saint Mary's. The sophomore did not lose a match: both of her doubles matches went unfinished. Avdic has not lost a doubles match since February 16, where she fell 5-7 against Washington State. Since then, Avdic has won four of six doubles matches, with two going unfinished.

In singles, she had her match against Sacramento State go unfinished while leading 6-4, 1-5 and her match against Saint Mary's end in a 6-3, 6-2 win for the Redhawks. Avdic has played on court one in every single spring dual match for the Redhawks this year.

This is the second honor from the WAC for Avdic this year. Avdic and Liliya Dimova were named the WAC Doubles Players of the Month during the fall season as that duo became the first Redhawks ever to qualify for ITA Conference Masters. The last Redhawk to earn WAC Singles Player of the Week was Elena Kravela, who earned the award last March. This is the first weekly singles award from the WAC for Avdic: she has earned Doubles Player of the Week twice, during the 2023-24 season, in addition to her Doubles Player of the Month award this year. Avdic also earned WAC Freshman of the Year and First Team All-WAC last season.

Avdic and the Redhawks will next be in action on March 27 and 28, playing Utah Tech and Grand Canyon. Both of those dual matches will be held on Grand Canyon's campus in Phoenix.
