Softball Hosts Oregon in Mental Health Awareness Game

SEATTLE - Riding a seven game winning streak after another perfect weekend in conference play, Seattle U softball (17-9, 6-0 WAC) returns home to host No. 8 Oregon (25-2, 1-0 Big Ten) for its Mental Health Awareness game at Logan Field on Monday at 3 PM.

SEATTLE - Riding a seven game winning streak after another perfect weekend in conference play, Seattle U softball (17-9, 6-0 WAC) returns home to host No. 8 Oregon (25-2, 1-0 Big Ten) for its Mental Health Awareness game at Logan Field on Monday at 3 PM.
 
Sophomore Avari Morris leads the Redhawks with a .478 batting average, possessing 11 RBI and a team leading two triples. The two-way player also ranks second on the team in wins (5), innings pitched (41.1) and strikeouts (37), while leading the Redhawks with two WAC weekly awards.
 
Graduate Jasmine Wehn ranks first on the team in hits (31), while ranking amongst the top-five on the team in batting average (.341), RBI (26), doubles (8), home runs (3). Wehn paces the Redhawk defense with 185 putouts. Junior Taylor Fitch ranks tied-43rd in the nation with 29 RBI. She holds a .341 batting average, tallying 29 hits, and leads the team with six home runs on the year.
 
Sophomore Karen Spadafora also has six home runs this season, picking up two more over the weekend against Utah Tech. She holds a .361 batting average to rank second on the team, while recording 30 hits and 20 RBI. On the defensive end, Spadafora has caught five runners stealing, while accounting for 154 putouts.
 
Leading from the circle is senior Nicola Simpson, in 13 appearances she has cataloged six wins, holding a 2.15 ERA. Her 72 strikeouts rank tied-35th in the country, which ranks first in the WAC. Simpson has pitched 78.0 innings on the season while holding opponents to a .236 batting average. 
 
Sophomores Berkley Vance and Avari Morris have combined for five wins. Vance comes off her fifth win of the season after collecting a new career high nine strikeouts against Utah Tech in the series finale, moving her season total strikeouts to 30.
 
As a collective the Redhawks hold a .311 batting average, knocking out 229 hits and accounting for 153 runs scored. SU ranks fourth in the country in doubles, combining for 2.04 a contest for 47 total on the season. They hold their opponents to a .253 batting average, giving up 106 runs and 175 through 26 games. 
 
Oregon has enjoyed a four game winning streak following wins over Florida State and Abilene Christian at home before defeating cross-town rival Washington on Friday. The Ducks are 3-1 on the road this season. They hold a combined .346 batting average off of 264 hits while accounting for 223 runs. Oregon holds its opponents to a .169 batting average, only giving up 112 hits and 55 runs.
 
Monday's meeting is the 15th all-time in program history between the Redhawks and the Ducks, dating back to their first contest in 2009. The Ducks hold the series edge 14-0 and have only played Seattle U once at Logan Field.
 
Following the brief stop at home tomorrow afternoon, the Redhawks head back out on the road for two doubleheaders against Creighton in Omaha.
