SACRAMENTO – In a rare spring doubleheader, the Seattle University Redhawks fell 0-4 to Sacramento State and 1-4 to Saint Mary's. The matches, originally scheduled on back-to-back days, were moved to a doubleheader in Sacramento after rain in Moraga prevent Seattle U and Saint Mary's from playing on Friday.
Lamija Avdic went undefeated on the day. Both of her matches, doubles and singles, against Sacramento State went unfinished, with Avdic leading in each. Against Saint Mary's, Avdic's doubles match, paired with Natalia Michta, again went unfinished, but in singles she earned a 6-3, 6-2 win on court one.
Michta's second singles match, against Saint Mary's, saw the junior bounce back from losing 3-6 in the first set. Michta won set two 6-2 and led 5-3 in the third set of the unfinished match. Liliya Dimova also had her singles match against Saint Mary's go unfinished, tied at one set a piece. Her singles match against Sacramento State was unfinished as well.
The Redhawks will hit the road and head to Phoenix in two weeks for their next matches. Those two matches, against Utah Tech and Grand Canyon, will both be held on Grand Canyon's campus and will take place on March 27 and 28.
