LAS VEGAS – The Seattle University men's basketball season came to an end close Friday night in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals, 68-55, to top-seed Utah Valley.

In their final collegiate game, fifth-year seniors Kobe Williamson and Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe paced the Redhawks for a second straight night. Williamson, Seattle U's all-time leader in game played and blocks, finished with a second straight 20-point performance. Moncrieffe finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Utah Valley (25-7) scored the first five points of the game before the Redhawks forced them into seven consecutive turnovers to go with a 6-0 offensive spurt. The teams would battle back and forth and sit knotted at 20-20 with 5:28 to play in the first. But UVU would close out the half on a 14-2 run to lead 34-24 at the break.

The Redhawks were able to pull within six midway through the second half as back-to-back Williamson buckets made it 49-43 with 10:26 to play. But the offense continued to struggle as they closed out the game hitting just two of their final 10 attempts.

Tanner Toolson led the Wolverines with 18 points while Carter Welling added 17.

A season of up and downs concluded with a 14-18 overall record for the Redhawks as they completed their 12-year tenure in the WAC. The year was highlighted by a Quad 1 win at UC San Diego, a crosstown rivalry win at Washington and a sixth all-time appearance in the WAC Tournament semifinals.
