BELLEVUE - Seattle U baseball extended their winning streak to four as they swept a doubleheader with Coppin State, 7-3 and 11-1, Friday afternoon at Bannerwood Park. The Redhawks never trailed on the day as they took the first two games of the 3-game Seattle HBCU Series.
GAME 1:
It was an evenly distributed attack from Seattle U in the series opener, with five different Redhawks driving in a run. Kenny Ishikawa and Vicente Feliciano combined for half of the team's eight hits in the game.
Rafael Espinoza secured his first win in a Redhawk uniform as he went five innings while giving up three earned and striking out five Eagles. Kaden Alberghini picked up the first save of the season for the team as he finished out the final four innings and did not allow a single run.
GAME 2:
Seattle U didn't need a full nine innings to get the doubleheader sweep in game two, defeating the Eagles on a run rule in eight innings.
It was once again an evenly distributed offensive game, with six players combining for 10 runs batted in. Tervell Johnson recorded his first two hits with the program as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Sebastian Lopez also had two hits, and two runs batted in while also flashing the leather at 1st base. Jared Stevenson walked off the game in the 8th with a double that scored Brandon Stinnett, triggering the 10-run rule.
