SEATTLE - Atop the WAC standings following a perfect weekend at home, the No. 21 D1Softball Mid-Major ranked Seattle U softball team (14-9, 3-0 WAC) embarks on a three-game road series against Utah Tech (10-15, 1-2 WAC) at Karl Brooks Field for the weekend of March 14-15 hoping to extend its four-game winning streak.

SEATTLE - Atop the WAC standings following a perfect weekend at home, the No. 21 D1Softball Mid-Major ranked Seattle U softball team (14-9, 3-0 WAC) embarks on a three-game road series against Utah Tech (10-15, 1-2 WAC) at Karl Brooks Field for the weekend of March 14-15 hoping to extend its four-game winning streak.
 
For the second straight week, sophomore Avari Morris was named the WAC's Pitcher of the Week following another shutout performance. Morris pitched a career best tying 7.0 innings in the 7-0 win over Abilene Christian in game two of last Friday's doubleheader. She faced 26 batters and struck out four of them allowing one hit and zero runs en route to her fourth win of the season.
 
Leading from the circle on the season is senior Nicola Simpson. She's pitched 73.0 innings in 12 appearances, while pacing the team with five wins. Her 68 strikeouts paces both the team and the WAC while ranking tied-40th in the country. Simpson holds a 1.92 ERA while limiting opponents to a .230 batting average.
 
Simpson also ranks amongst the top-five on the team as a hitter, posting a .301 batting average after 23 contests. She has 12 runs scored, 22 hits and leads the team with eight doubles.
 
Morris leads the team with a .472 batting average and .694 slugging percentage, while ranking top-five on the team in RBI (8) and doubles (4). She currently has the second longest hitting streak at five.
 
Sophomore Karen Spadafora ranks second on the team with a .333 batting average. She's scored 12 runs on the year, while ranking third on the team with 24 hits. Spadafora is second on the team in home runs with four, while ranking third on the team with 14 RBI. Defensively, she has caught five runners stealing, which ranks third in the WAC. Spadafora has recorded 128 putouts on the year to rank second on the team.
 
Graduate Jasmine Wehn leads all Redhawks with 25 hits alongside senior Tai Wilson, who has also grabbed 25 hits. Wehn sits third on the team with a .325 batting average while ranking amongst the top-five in runs scored (11), RBI (18), and doubles (7). Wilson paces the Redhawks with 26 runs and two triples. Wehn also aids the Redhawk defense, locking up 160 putouts on the year.
 
Junior Taylor Fitch paces the WAC and ranks tied-69th in the nation with 26 RBI. She has 22 hits, including seven doubles and a team leading six home runs, and 15 runs on the season.
 
Sophomore Mikee Morris ranks second in the WAC while leading all Redhawks with 45 assists.
 
Together, the Redhawks rank fourth in the country with 2.04 doubles a game. They sit tied-8th with 47 total after 23 games. Their 5.5 strikeouts an inning ranks 84th in the nation, for a total of 121 strikeouts in 154.0 innings pitched.
 
SU holds a collective .294 batting average while holding its opposition to a .253 batting average. The Redhawks have 188 hits, 111 RBI and 121 runs on the year. They have allowed 154 hits and 93 runs, while turning seven double plays and catching 10 runners stealing. SU has a combined 3.41 ERA.
 
Utah Tech ended the early season tournament slate 9-13 before traveling to Arlington, Texas to open WAC play at UT Arlington. The Trailblazers went 1-2 against the Mavericks after securing game one of the doubleheader. They returned home to host BYU on Tuesday. Utah Tech is 2-4 at home on the year after posting a 2-3 record at its home tournament.
 
The Trailblazers hit a combined .320 batting average after 25 contests, while holding their opponents to a .327 batting average. Utah Tech has 222 hits, to lead the WAC, 124 RBI and 139 runs on the season. The Trailblazers hold a 5.49 ERA, allowing 222 hits and 139 runs while striking out 87 batters.
 
The Redhawks lead the all-time series against the Trailblazers 12-4 dating back to their first meeting in 2021. They are 3-3 in St. George, last playing Utah Tech at Brooks Field in 2023. The Trailblazers secured the series sweep that year after the Redhawks swept them in 2022. 
 
Following the weekend, the Redhawks return to Logan Field to host Oregon for their Mental Health Awareness game on Monday, March 17 at 3 PM. They hit the road next weekend for four games against Creighton in Omaha.
