SEATTLE - Just one week after a strong showing at the WAC Indoor Championships, the Seattle University Redhawks begin their outdoor season, taking part in the PLU Open on March 8. That will be the first outdoor track and field meet of the season, beginning at 11:00 am on Pacific Lutheran's campus.

The outdoor season was a hugely successful one for the Redhawks. The finale saw Seattle U put seven new all-time top ten times in the record book. That included a new all-time program record in the women's distance medley relay: McKenna White, Taylor Marks, Annabelle Clapp, and Azalea Groleau ran a 11:52.39 to break the school record, the third consecutive year that Seattle U has broken the women's distance medley relay record.

In all, the Redhawks had 32 new all-time top-ten times during the indoor season and four new all-time program bests, including the distance medley relay record. Lilianne Hargreaves set new program records in both the 3000m and mile. Seku Sanders set a new 800m SU record, only for Osaze Williams to break that same record one heat later.

Seattle U will be looking to continue the success of the 2024 outdoor season. The Redhawks earned eight All-WAC awards at last season's WAC Outdoor Championships. Of the six individual All-WAC awards earned, four return this year: Hargreaves, Groleau, Livii Fetterley, and Manthita Wague are all back for this year's outdoor season after earning All-WAC during the 2024 outdoor season. Taylor Marks and Rock Gignac are also back after having earned All-WAC as part of Seattle U's 4x400 relay teams.

This will be the first time since 2013 that the Redhawks have competed at PLU during the outdoor track and field season. While no current Redhawks were a part of that meet, Seattle U did see a new school record in the men's discus set by Devon Walker, who still holds the school record in that event.
