SEATTLE - The Seattle University Redhawks triumphed at home against the Sacramento State Hornets, starting off a two-match weekend with a 4-3 win. The Redhawks took the doubles point and notched singles wins for Filip Stipic, Yuan Lu, and Yu-Han Hsieh to take the match.
In addition to each winning their singles matches, Lu and Hsieh paired to win a doubles match as well. Their 6-4 win, combined with the 6-3 win from Veselin Kiselkov and Michael Frank, ensured the doubles point went to Seattle U, with Stipic and Jun Sasagawa's match going unfinished knotted 4-4.
In singles play, Lu gave the Redhawks the lead from the get-go, winning his match 6-4, 6-2. Hsieh's 6-1, 6-4 win gave the Redhawks a 3-0 lead overall, with Stipic's 6-3, 7-5 win in court one clinching the match 4-3. Sasagawa and Frank each had tight singles matches, which each going three sets.
The Redhawks are right back in action tomorrow, playing Oklahoma State at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Washington. That match will be at 2:30 pm.
