QUICK HITS
- In its lone game last week, Seattle U lost its third straight, 83-74, at Grand Canyon on Thursday, Jan. 30.
- This marked the first time in eight games this season that the Redhawk led at halftime but did not finish with a victory.
- The Redhawks are now 8-13 overall and 3-4 in league play.
- Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe and Kobe Williamson had 20 points apiece to lead the Redhawks at GCU.
- Williamson's 20-point effort was his highest of the season in his nine games played.
- Moncrieffe added nine rebounds, coming up just one board shy of an 11th double-double. He remains at 10, which matches the most collected in a season by a Redhawk since Myles Carter collected 10 during the 2018-19 season.
- Maleek Arington dished 11 assists at GCU, marking a career-high for the junior guard. It also marked the most for a Redhawk since Nov. 22, 2023 when Alex Schumacher had 11 dimes versus Idaho.
- Kobe Williamson has appeared in 131 games during his Seattle U career, and now sits two away from matching the all-time games played leader Riley Grigsby (2019-23) who appeared in 133 games during his career.
- Vasja Pandža hit the 100-games-played marker on Jan. 30 at Grand Canyon.
- Viktor Rajkovic returned from a 10-game absence due to injury and made his 98th career appearance as a Redhawk at GCU.
ABOUT THE SERIES VS TARLETON STATE
- This marks just the fifth all-time meeting between Seattle U and Tarleton with the series tied at 2-2.
- The Redhawks won the first two meetings in series, but the Texans have since returned the favor, sweeping the home-and-home series last year.
- On March 9, 2024 in Stephenville, Texas, Tarleton shot 50% on their Senior Day and used a late 13-2 run to pull away. Four Redhawks finished in double figures, paced by Cameron Tyson's 15 points.
- Tarleton won the 2023-24 season's first meeting, 82-77, in the Redhawk Center. The Texans shot 46% from the field, including 11-of-18 from three in the road win. Alex Schumacher had 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead the Redhawks.
- Seattle U beat the Texans 67-47 in the lone meeting of 2022-23 on Jan. 19, 2023 at the Redhawk Center. The Redhawks broke open a two-point halftime lead by outscoring the visitor 43-25 in the second half. Alex Schumacher and Riley Grigsby had 13 points each. Cameron Tyson added 12 points and Paris Dawson had 11.
- Seattle U earned a 78-68 victory in Stephenville, Texas, on Jan. 22, 2022, which, at the time, marked a seventh straight win for the Redhawks. Cameron Tyson led the way with 21 points. Darrion Trammell battled foul trouble to finish with 13 points and five assists and Riley Grigsby added 11 points.
- Seattle U and Tarleton became conference foes beginning in 2020-21, but the opportunity to face off was ultimately delayed a year as the first scheduled meetings, due to be played in Stephenville, were canceled due to COVID health and safety protocols.
