SEATTLE – Seattle University men's basketball shot 51% from the field and had 13 steals while forcing California Baptist into 22 total turnovers as the Redhawks ran away with a 72-48 win over the Lancers Thursday night at the Redhawk Center.

In a series that has seen seven one-possession decisions in the last 11 meetings, the rare blowout win moved Seattle U to 11-16 on the season and 6-7 in Western Athletic Conference play. The Lancers dropped to 13-14 overall and 6-7 in league action.

"We've been good at home," said Head Coach Chris Victor. "Our defense in the first half kind of slipped towards the end of the half and we challenged them at halftime and they responded.

This was one of our best defensive efforts of the year. When we play hard and we compete, we're capable of some special things, we just need to be consistent with it."

The Redhawks took advantage of the absence of CBU guard Dominique Daniels, Jr., and applied heavy pressure to the Lancer back court. The 13 steals marked the second most of the season and Seattle U finished with 29 points off giveaways to the Lancers' 11.

Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe led all players with 19 points and eight rebounds. John Christofilis added 17 points and Kobe Williamson rounded out a trio of Redhawks in double figures, finishing with 12.

CBU's Tylen Riley had 14 points, but no other Lancer reached double figures in their lowest scoring output of the season.

Seattle U's final homestand concludes on Saturday, March 1 with Senior Night versus Grand Canyon. The Redhawks will honor Kobe Williamson, Vasja Pandža, Viktor Rajkovic, Paris Dawson and Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe prior to the 7 p.m. tip-off.
