SEATTLE - Seattle U softball makes its way to its final tournament of the season, traveling to Tempe and Phoenix, Arizona for the ASU/GCU Invitational from February 28 through March 1. The Redhawks start the weekend on Friday against UTEP at Farrington Stadium in Tempe and compete in the remaining two days at GCU Softball Stadium.
Graduate Jasmine Wehn comes off a D1 Softball Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic All-Tournament team recognition after guiding the Redhawks to a 3-2 weekend, which included two comeback wins over Long Beach State and Oregon State. SU also claimed victory over a RV Northwestern team for the first time in program history. Her first home run of the year pushed the Redhawks past LBSU, while a 2 RBI single clinched SU's win over the Beavers.
Wehn bats .333 on the year after three weekends, which ranks her 20th in the WAC. She has 17 hits and 13 RBI on the year while pacing the team with 100 putouts.
Junior Taylor Fitch also ranks top-20 in the WAC in hitting, holding a .353 batting average to claim 18th in the league. Her 19 RBI leads the conference and ranks her tied-31st in the nation. Fitch ranks tied-seventh in the country with seven doubles so far, while her four home runs rank tied-56th in the nation.
Guiding the Redhawks from the circle is senior Nicola Simpson. In five appearances, she has secured three wins, including one shutout. She's pitched 45.0 innings, including four complete games, to lead all SU pitchers. Simpson has garnered 45 strikeouts on the year, including three separate contests with eight strikeouts, to rank tied-31st in the country. She currently holds a 1.71 ERA on the season.
Pacing the Redhawk defense alongside Wehn and Simpson is sophomore Karen Spadafora. The catcher has collected three runners caught stealing on the season to rank tied-5th in the WAC. She trails Wehn with 84 putouts through 15 games.
Together, the Redhawks are out hitting their opponents .301 to .273, while picking up 128 hits, which ranks tied-49th in the country, to the opposition's 108. SU has recorded 34 doubles through 15 games. The Redhawks' 2.3 doubles a game ranks sixth in the nation.

Rounding out SU's second game in Tempe is host Arizona State. The Redhawks trail the all-time series 4-1 against the Sun Devils. They last defeated ASU 4-3 in the second ever meeting in 2011. Friday's game is the sixth game between the pair and their first contest since 2022.
Shifting to GCU Softball Stadium on Saturday, the Redhawks meet Yale first for just the third time ever and for the first time since 2013. SU is 2-0 against the Bulldogs, claiming both wins in its home city of Seattle, one on a neutral field and at Logan Field.
Saturday concludes with a rematch against Oregon State. After securing the 7-5 win a week ago, the Redhawks collected their fourth series win over the Beavers. They trail the all-time record 11-4 to Oregon State.
The Redhawks conclude the trip at GCU Softball Stadium on Sunday in a rematch against Utah State. The Aggies secured the 1-0 victory two weeks ago in Riverside, California. SU retained the series lead 4-2 dating back to their first meeting in 2010.
